The narrative of Citampi Stories centers on a family residing in Bojong Lima Village, grappling with an unmanageable debt. To alleviate this burden, the son must venture into the creditor’s city, marking the beginning of the protagonist's new life. Complicating matters, he finds himself at odds with the affection shown to him by the creditor's daughter; his desire is for a marriage rooted in mutual love rather than obligation.
Prior to departing, the player obtains a necklace gifted by the protagonist's mother—an object that helps mitigate costs during the journey.
