Step-by-step Guide on How to Play
Establish a gaming session
Open the Taboo app to create a game, inviting friends to join, or directly launch a game from a chat group you set up. Taboo accommodates 2-6 online players and includes an in-game video chat feature, allowing for a remote yet interactive experience. You can also gather 2-8 friends in Local Party Mode when together.
Organize into Two Teams
Divide into two unique teams and assign creative names to them.
Assign a Clue-giver from Team A
Selections for the Clue-giver role will occur randomly via the app, alternating between Team A and Team B.
The Clue-giver selects a card
Only the Clue-giver from Team A and all members of Team B will view the card. The Clue-giver's mission is to communicate the specified word to their teammates, strictly avoiding any Taboo words.
Team B remains alert by the Buzzer
It’s Team B’s responsibility to monitor the Clue-giver! If they detect a Taboo word being spoken, they should sound the buzzer!
Keep track of the timer
Your team has one minute to correctly identify as many words as possible, earning one point per valid guess. However, beware! If the opposing team catches you saying a Taboo word and alerts, they'll earn a point too!
Passing on a card
During each turn, you may skip up to 2 cards. However, each skipped card assists your opposite team in gaining one point!
Ending the Game
The game concludes after every participant has had a turn as Clue-giver, or once each team has had an equal number of turns in that role.
Two-Player Mode
You may also compete head-to-head against one friend in two-player mode!
